LAWN TENNIS.
Oa Saturday evening a public meeting was held in the Annat Schoolroom, for the purpose of forming a Lawn Tennis Club. Mr A. McNae occupied the chair. The attendance numbered fifteen, and .those present decided on forming a Club under the name of the Annat District Club. A set of rules was adopted, with slight amendment. The annual subscription was fixed at 5s "for gentlemen and 2s 6d for ladies. Saturday, the 24th, was selected as tbe opening day on Mr Taylor's lawn.. A list of twenty-two members Was handed in before the meeting closed. Mr Keys was proposed as President, but declined, and proposed Mr Taylor, who was elected. The Vice-Presidents elected were MrDavidson and -Mr McNae; Secretary ana Treasurer, Mr Davidson; Committee, Miss Tressioer, Mrs Keys, Mrs Barlow, Messrs W. Plaskett and Kobt. Barr. A number of enthusiasts of lawn tennis met on the Sheffield Domain last Saturday afternoon, and spent a few hours very pleasantly, playing matches with those invited by the promoteis. It is probable that a Club will be formed shortly.
