THE AUSTRALASIAN ASSOCIATION.
The following gentlemen have arrived' or are expected in the course of a few days, to attend the annual meeting of the Australasian Association for the advancement of science:—Professor A. Liversidge, )M.A., F.RS., Professor of Chemistry and Mineralogy, Sydney University, Permanent Secretary of the Association; Mr T. R Lyle, M.A., Professor of Physics Melbourne University, and President of section A Astronomy, Mathematics, Physics and Meclianics; Mr VT. A. Haswell, M.A., D. Sc., Professor of Biology, Sydney. University, and President of section D Biology, will be here by Monday or Tuesday next. Mr RL. Jack, F.G.S., Government Geologist ,of Queensland, is at present engaged examining the Hot Lakes district, and is expected by Tuesday's boat from the North. By the same steamer from Wellington are expected Sir Jas. and Lady Hector, Mr R H. Roe, M.A. Grammar School, Brisbane, and President of Sec. L, and a host of people from Wellington. Professor H. Laurie and Baron F. yon Mueller are doing the Mount Cook district and will be here about Wednesday. Professor W. C Kermot, M.A., C.E., President of the Royal Society of Victoria, is in the Southern Lake district, Mr Cooper, the artist of Messrs Wheeler and Co., is on his way back from Mount Cook, and is expected to-day. He brings with him a large number of fine photographs of the Murchison glacier to be used in illustrating Mr MannertDg'a lecture.
