Civil Cases.—Williamson and Preece v F. Cochrane,claim £113s ; judgment by default. • J. Orr and Co, v C. Jephson, claim £17 3s fid; judgment by default. Barry v N. Fitzgerald, claim £14135. Mr Crisp for plaintiff, Mr Wilding for defendant. The sum of £5 8s 9d had been paid into Court, and judgment was given for this amount with costs against plaintiff. Bryant vF. F. Clayton, claim £4 15s 9d; judgment by default. J. Bryant v Flemingcon Cheese Factory Company, claim £8 13s. Mr Wilding for plaintiff, Mr Puruell for defendant. The sum of £6 2s had been paid into Court, and judgment was given for plaintiff for another £18s. (Before Mr D. Thomas, J. P., and Mr A* Harrison, J.P.) Alleged Abusive Language.— Wm. Martin was charged on the information of Wm de B. Compton, poundkeeper, with having used abusive and threaten-, ing language. Mr Crisp appeared for Compton, Mr Purnell for defendant. From the evidence it appeared that Compton had impounded Martin's cattle, and some days afterwards the two met in a hotel in Ashburton. Words arose, and Compton in his evidence stated that Martin used very abusive language towards him. Martin and another witness denied that any abusive language had been used towards Compton. The case was dismissed.
