The ordinary meeting was held on Mon< day, January sth. Present—The Chairman and Messrs Spencer, Sinclair and Haydon. Correspondence was read— From the Selwyu County Council, con* firming th*dedßi®a«£tbewtepayfij?s TO " nelling the piece of road at the corner of R.S. 4980. Resolved that the same be valued and offered to the owner of the above section. From Messrs McOrury and McGough, asking for twenty-two chains of White's and Leadley's road to be shingled. Agreed to do fifteen chains. From Mr Witty, asking for assistance towards building: a bridge ovez the tramway drain. Resolved that Mc Wltty's application cannot be granted. From Mr T. Going, asking that the stumps be taken out of Dawson's Creek, and the creek deepened from Burrow's drain to the Ellesmere road. Deferred for the Clerk to report. Resolved—That attention be called to the practice obtaining of obstructing the main drains with dams. The penalty for interfering in this way is very heavy. On the motion of- Mr Spencer, ie was decided to cut the thistles on the roads when they obstructed the traffic Resolved—That the lowest tender be accepted for clearing gorse off the Shand's road. That tenders bq invited for shovelling out the mud in Bladder's drain for about 45 chains, shingling about twenty chains of Fountain's road and fifteen chains of White's and Leadley's road. That persons ba cautioned about cutting willows by the river, a notice board to Dβ put up to that effect. The Clerk reported that 26,400 small birds' heads and eggs had been pur* chased during the past month. The Board were unanimous that more good was done in this way than by poisoned grain. The pay sheet, £104 7sßcLwm passed for payment, and the Board adjourned till March 2nd.
