dafdreKßTGboA Esq., Mayor, andX ' Todd, Esq., J.P.) Trespass on Railway.— J. Waller and C. Wright were charged with allowing horses to stray within the Ashley Railway yard, which is open to the line. W. Bennington, ganger, gave evidence, and said defendants had been cautioned. No excuse was pleaded for the offence, and the parties were respectively fined 20s and costs. Prohibition.—An application was made by Mr G. Thompson for an order prohibiting Lawsen Ridley from being supplied with drink in the Ashley, Rangiora, Mandeville, Oxford, and Eyreton districts. After hearing evidence an ex parte order was made prohibiting publicans and others supplying defendant with liquor for a Deriod of twelve months. * Civil Case.—P. Day vF. Teague, £1 14s fur digging; set-off £110s 9d for papering and painting. Plaintiff said he had dug the land at price agreed on, and defendant was to pay the amount by work at his house, which he had begun but not completed, and one length of wall paper was puton "wrong way up." Defendant stated the dinging agreement was to cover two square chains, but. plaintiff only completed a chain and a third. Witness did work to the value, and the piece of paper was put up at plaintiff's request, to save expense of another piece. The Bench said it was one statement against the other, and judgment would be for 3s 9d and costs. J. B. Gresson v A. Mannering, £18 15s for rent. No appearance of defendant; judgment for plaintiff.
