FROZEN OYSTERS.
I (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) ! INVBEGAEGILL, December 22.. Under the Fisheries Conservation Act, 334, it is made an offence to sell oysters uring the close season. The Act was >assed before anyone thought of freezing the bivalves caught during the open leason, and now a difficulty has arisen iere. A dealer, having placed a large juantity of oysters in the Bluff Freezing works, is prohibited from selling them now by the Collector of Cuattoms, who, of course, heads the Act as it stanls. It is argued pat: wpuld t be quite possible to check illegal fishing by means of a certificate pom the freezing works for all oysters iffered for sale in the close season. It is (so pointed out that while the sale is Prohibited in the colony frozen oysters taay be shipped to Australia or England, ilso that it is quite easy to detect oysters caught during the spawning season.
