SYDENHAM.
A meeting of the School Committee was held on the 12th inst; All members were present. ■ A deputation from the teaching staff waited* on the Committee and handed in £29 15s 9d, being the proceeds of the concert in aid of the prize fund. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the statf for their efforts, and they were congratulated oh the successful result. It was' agreed that the distribution of prizes take place oa Friday,,; the lUth inst., in, the Oddfellows' Hall at 2 p.m. Mr B. Jones, on behalf 6£ the Vteitihg Committee, reported that the Board's Building Committee had inspected the school premises |and given instructions for -the. 1 repair*, distempering,^-^ a ad painjtiug to be done during the holidays. Correspondence , w«, Jihe Board ;of Education, advising that there was no objection to the-pupil teachers having, ieave $1 absence to Rtceud the macriculatiop • examination, and should teachers require one week or more leave of absenceTitwas necessary to get the sanction of the Board. The Chairman laid before the Committee a plan showing che boundaries of the school district of Sfc. Martin's, the western boundary extending to Barbadoea street. The Committee are of opiaiou ifc should not go beyond the Walthaai road. "
