LYTTELTON REGATTA, 1891.
A meeting of the Committee of the above regatta was held on Tuesday evening, when the Commodore, Mr J. B. Milsom, occupied the chair. The collectors reported thai, the subscriptions were coming in slowly, but they hoped to iucreaee the balance at the Bank to a considerable extent by next meeting. The total donations promised wore considerably below the Amount of prize money allotted, but it is hoped to collect f sufficient to enable the Committee to keep the programme as arranged intact. Mr C. A. Rich was appointed official handicapper and measurer of the yachts and fishing boats. The matter of arranging fur a flagship, for the convenience of subscribers to the fund, was discussed, and the matter was left in the hands of the subcommittee to arrange with the captain of one of the vessels that will be in Fort on New Years-Day to kindly grant the use of his vessel on that occasion. Mr Siinson's name was added to the Fire Display Commit cc, who reported that all arrangements were in hand for a successful display on New Year's night. Mr Brice reported that an excelleut programme of sports had been arranged, which should be the means of bringing competitors in large numbers. A notice of motion to decide the rales having reference to life belt* being carried by the crews of sailing vessels was tabled ; also one to discuss at next meeting the advisability of inserting a coasters' race In the programme provided sufficient additional funds were forthcoming for that prize. l After dealing with other matters the meeting adjourned until Wednesday next, by which time the collectors' hoped to collect most of the subscriptions promised.
