MADAME BURTON'S CONCERT.

The last of the series of Madame Burton's concerts was given in the Oddfellows' Hall, when there was a very large attendance. Madame Burton's contributions to the programme included Gounod's wonderfully dramatic song *• The ; Worker," and Mozart's " Vol che Sapete/' from " Nozze di Figaro." Both of these were admirably sung, and fully sustained the reputation of the artiste. MissColbourne-Baber in the first part sang " Remember mc no more," by Sir "W. R -binson, and in the second part Gouuod's " Serenade," which was admirably sung, She also sang the duet " Maying," with Mr Stock well, and in the duet frond "Meflsto." which has already been referred to in previous concerts. M. Poussard played a fantasia on arias from " Robert le Diable," a Cossack march by Joachim, and an Indian, fantasia of his own composition, all of which were admirably played. Mr Bradley's piano solo was a "Spiunin'g. Song" by Behdel, in which he showed the thorough mastery he possesses .over the piauo. Mr Stockwell was very good iv Stephen Adams' song " The Star of Bethlehem," and he sang Tours* " Angel at the Window " carefully and well. Mr Weirgave us tbe well-known song, "For Ever and. For Ever," very - well, and, in response to an encore, " The Devout Lover." An arrangement has been made by which the Christchurch music loving public will have an' opportunity of hearing Madame Marian Burton iv oratorio with the Moteto Society. They, will give the oratorio on December 19th in the Oddfellows' Hall, when, the, principals of Madame Burton's company will appear. This should be tbe most artistic performance of the. oratorio". we have yet had here. The plan of the reserved seats will be opened at Messrs. Milner and Thompson's on Saturday next.
