OBITUARY.

-BEE RICHMOND.

On Sunday morning there died In ! Worcester street, Christchureh, Mr H. R. -Richmond, a brother -of bis i Honor Mr Justice Bichmond and Mr !J. C. Bichmond. The deceased gentleman, who was the youngest of the three brothers, came to New Zealand about 1850. JHe landed at New Plymouth In company with his two brothers, and first went into agricultural pursuits. After the .constitution was granted to the colony he became the third Superintendent of Taranaki, and also held other official positions under the Provincial Government. For a short time he was editor, of the Taranaki News, and subsequently was engaged in teaching. At tbe age of fortyfive he began In Nelson tbe study of the law, and was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New .Zealand three years later. Since that period lie has been in practice as a solicitor in New Plymouth. His health failing he came south and went to Dunedin for, medical treatment. Subsequently he returned to Ohristcnurcb, and resided here .until the period ot his death, as given above. The deceased gentleman will be buried to-day, at _ p.m., at the Addington Cemetery, and no doubt many old colonists will take tbe opportunity ot paying the last tribute of respect to one of che early settlers.
