LICENSING COMMITTEE.

CERISTCHURCH NORTHEAST,

A meeting of the : Licensing Committee of the North-East Ward was held at noon yesterday. Present—Messrs R. J. S. Harman (Chairman), C. P. Hulberc, J. V. Boss and Kirn bell. : ,-.,,- The following transfers were applied for:—

B. H. Clarke to Thomas Brooks of the license for the Central Hotel. The Chair* man said, with reference to this application, there was a cnarge of Sunday trading against the house pending in the R.M. Court. The application would be deferred until Thursday, in order to allow of the ease being heard in the R.M. Court. John Topvey to William Savage, of the licence for the Star and Garter. Granted.

C. F. Money to H. W. CaudweLL of the license for the Victorian hotel. Granted. Serge. Briggs pre-sented the police report, which was satisfactory. Mr Bruges applied for the transfer of the. license of the Oxford Hotel to Mrs Simmons, as the widow and sole executrix of the will of W. J. Simmons, deceased. The application was made under section 102, that the name of Mrs Simmons be inserted on the register of the licensing district as licensee in place of than of W. J. Simmons, deceased. The Chairman said that this application would be granted. Tbe police had no objection either to the proposed licensee or the conduct of the bouse. The report on the houses of tbe district presented by the police was exceedingly favorable. This was &11 the business.
