At the Pakuranga Racing Club's Spring Meeting So MlcheL Bst 101b, won the Tamaki Cup, one and a quarter miles; Leorina,Bst 121b, second; and Ingarina, 7st 51b, third. There were three other starters. Time, 2min 12sec A jockey named Friend, who was riding .Fiehmonger in the Maiden Plate, had his collar bone broken owing to his horse falling.
A meeting. oi the.. Little . River Race Committee was held at the Foreyoh Arms, Hotel on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance, and Mr. R. Paton. was elected to the chair. The annual statement of accounts was read, and showed a credit balance of a little over £10, which was considered very satisfactory. The following were elected officers for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr A. I. McGregor ; President, Mr H. D. Buchanan; V ice-President, Mr W. Coop; Treasurer, Mr S. Nutt; Secretary, Mr A. Shadbolt. Stewards—Messrs O. Bradley, R. Paton, J. Archer, G. Robinson, R. Birdling, T. Brown, & Nutt, A. Myers, J. Parkinson, and H. C. Jacobson. Clerk of Course, Mr G. Robinson'; Clerk of Scales, Mr R. Paton; Starter, Mr S. Johnson. Handicapped (Trot), Messrs. R. Paton and G. Robinson; Flat and Hurdle Races, Mr J. Duxbery. It was was resolved that the next race meeting be held some time : during the monch of March, Votes of thanks to the retiring officers closed the meeting. A meeting of the Kowai Pass.Jockey -Club members- took place at Keane's Hotel, Springfield, on Saturday night, Mr Hy. Williamson in the chair. Former notified meetings had fallen through for want of a quorum, and certain liabilities; have for a long time been outstanding, bat on this occasion sufficient funds were forthcoming to p*y all debts, and the Treasurer was requested to give this matter attention and thus finally close the i Club's old transactions. A heart; vote of thanks was accorded the Secretary for his past services to the Club, and general regret expressed that the Club was not in a position to more substantially recognise his work. The question of holding a race meeting was discussed, but consequent on the resignation of Mr Keys from the Secretaryship the matter was adjourned sine die; several members expressing the opinion that it would be useless attempting to carry put a race .meeting.;. /,', .... .. .". .'•
