TARANAKI NOTES.

(tbok otra co__-xspondbnt.) At. a meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club, held recently, it was decided to add £100 to the programme for the Jubilee Meeting, which takes place in March next, and Messrs' Paul, Standish, and Bouchoup were appointed a committee to draw up a programme. Nominations for the Spring Meeting close on Saturday 22nd November, for the Ist Handicap Pony race, Flying Handicap Hurdles, Spring Handicap, 2nd Pony Handicaps, and Handicap Trot. Weights declared on Saturday, 6th December, by MrJas. Paul, handlcapper. As this is the opening of our races in this district, and as there are a large number of horses in work, the meeting should be a decided BUCC6SS ' The Waltara programme Is now being submitted to the T.J.C*. for their New Year's Day Meeting. The contents* of the bill of fare set down for decision on that date I have not seen. This Club has, I believe, made considerable improvement on their course since their last meeting, and I am informed intend erecting a grand standby the time of their meeting. Mr W. Elliot, of Waltara, has bought of Mr C. N. Rowe, of Urenui, the four-year-old filly by Flintlock—Maid of Honor (dam of Mari) and the filly is now to be seen working with the remainder of that owner's string of horses. Emmett, the horse that has been such a mystery (as to his breeding) la now to be seen used as a hack for leading a Clydesdale stallion, no doubt with a view of getting him ready to have another "cut in." I wonder how much this horse has cost his party. Mr W. Black, of Tikorangi, has had the misfortune to lose his foal out of Psyche by Flintlock, and I believe decided on not stinting the old mare any more, as she is now in her twenty-eighth year. The dam of the flying Macaroni has been stinted this season to Sovereign.
