Abt Exhibition.—On Saturday evening the Art Gallery was patronised by the largest attendance of visitors since the opening, thns showing that as the excellence of the Exhibition becomes more generally known the patrons of art are quite ready to avail themselves of the opportunity afforded them by the collection of pictures now iv the gallery, There was an additional attraction in the Shape of some excellent singing by Mrs Wilson and Mr A. Millar, and the performance of a portion of " The Rivals" by Messrs Yon Haast, Alpers, and Firth. The results, of this test are so encouraging that the Directors have determined to lose no time in completing the arrangements for carrying on continuous crushing. The machinery for this has been erected, and ia now in perfect working order. The mate-, rial for the aerial tramway, including two mues of steel wire rope, is all on the ground, and its erection is the only work to be done.
