EXTRACT FROM "THE PRESS," Friday, November 14th, 1890. MESSRS WOOD AND CO., ''Every season the firm makes a very excellent show, and this is no exception to the rule. The younger portion of the community will be delighted to find here large-sized effigies of those benefactors of , youih Santa Klaus and his good wife laden with presents. Jewelled cards a<nd floral devices are in great profusion, some Of them being exceedingly pretty and natural. The opals displayed by Messrs Wood and Co. are this year most artistic, tome of the large heads, both colored and plain, especially fao. The series of embossed satiu flowers, to which reference has already been made, are very pretty < indeed, all the natural coloring and form of the flowers represented being reproduced with much tidelitv. The booklets, &s in former years, are iv almost endless , variety, aud the illustrations are very artistically executed. In the novelties there is a quaint design of a child's pinafore, out of which by pulling a piece of card pops the heads of three crying chil dreo. Just the sort of thing to make a crusty old bachelor happy for life on its receipt. Then there are cards iv the form of purses, out of which stream showers of •wealth iv the shape of sovereigns, notes, &&, others in the shape of open boxes of sardines, and of the pie out of which the tbur-and-twenty blackbirds are said to b&ve made their escape and sang merrily s?erafterwards. All' these quaint conceits and many more can be seen in the txcttUeat display made by the firm, aud the only trou le will be when visitors go to make their purchases So decide what ' to buy oat of so much that is attractive." l We may mention the fact that our Sale Of Christmas and New Year Cards last season exceeded that of the previous year bjr over Forty per cent., and with a larger stock aud more varied assortment than before, we confidently expect that the coming demand will jbe largely in excess «£loimer reasons.
