The Bank of England .returns, published to-day, show tbe total reserve in notes and bullion to be £11,602,000. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 35.34.

Consols 94f, firm. New Zealand Four per Cent. Inscribed Stock 103, steady; Three and a Half do 9.U, firmer.

Three months' bills are quoted at 4§ per cent. South Australian wheat 38s, steady; Victorian 37e 6d, improving ; New Zealand long berried do, . 36a 9d, firmer. -

Sugar—Best German beet 12s 9d, flat; Java 15s 3d.

Lpndon, November 1. The cheese ex R.M.S. Tainoi is realising from 30s to 50s per cwt.

The New* Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have reoeived the following cable message, dated London, 31st October, 1890 :—

Wool—The Antwerp sales are lower. Australian has declined £d per lb there since close of last London sales,

Tallow is doll of sale, and has declined 6d per owt. since last report. New Zealand Hemp-—Market active. In sympathy with the advance of £4 per ton in Manila, -New Zealand has advanced £2 per. ton.

Frozen Meat — Mutton, market weaker. Beef, better; quotations unchanged. Preserved Meats—American meate have an upward tendency.
