Grace, the cricketer, the leader faede prineeps amongst batsmen. -|t will be remembered that he captained the third English team visiting Australia in 18734, and his play then was fully in accordance with his great reputation. He has been a staunch supporter of his county, Gloucestershire, and for nearly a quarter of a century had been identified with English cricket. Thrice has he headed the batting averages against the Australian team— viz., against the second, with an average of OS'S; against the fifth, with an average of 42-7; and against the-__rt_,- in representative matchetLWith an average of 31*1. As a bowler also, W. G. is not to be des__i_t_tf_L_ Mr Grace writes in an easy and interesting style, andhis contribution on th 9 history of cricket cannot fail to be acceptable to our readers.
