CANTBBBUBY COLLEGE v CHRIST'S COLLEGE. .
This match was a runaway "for Canterbury College, and was Another proof perhaps that the Christ's' Colleger team are hardly strong enough to compete against the ordinary first fifteens. From start. to finish the visitors were the aggressors, and in the dribbling and passing departments were far ahead of their opponents. At times the Christ's College team showed up very well, but their lasting powers were deficient, and though they played a hard uphill: game, they were unable to avert a defeat. In the first spell, as the result of good Reds' rushes, Jack, Balche, Plante and Ward each secured a try, from which, however, no goals were placed. Balche obtained another try, and from some nice passing Hutton got over, Ward converting. This was quickly followed by Plante and Speight each scoring a touchdown. In the second spell' the weaker team made a determined dash, but a return compliment ended in Ward scoring from a pass. The Blacks secured a mark about half-way* and Berry placed a neat and creditable goal, which was the only one his side made; The passing of the Reds was very effective, as from it Balch secured two more tries from the latter, of which Ward placed a goal.* Then Craddock, Balch, add Jack each ran in. From the tries Jack placed two and Ward one goal, which was the total score—24 points to 3. The Black forwards all worked with a. will, and Berry proved of invaluable service with the backs, but the team was overmatched, and large as the score is, the surprise is that the number of points was not greater.
