PROPERTY SALES.
Mragßg TONES, NOBTON, AND Co. report as follows;— Our prediction in a previous report that the land and estate agency business would improve the nearer we approached the month of May, has been amply verified during the last month; in fact for a particular class of properties the demand has exceeded the supply. We have placed privately two quaiteracre sections in Deiamain street, a valuable section in Hereford street, and a section consisting of 20 perches fronting the Papanui road for the good price of £90. We have also sold a property in Harewood road, consisting of four acres of land, house, and stable, for £400, getting owners' valuation for it. On Saturday we held an important auction sale, at which, amongst other properties, the Scotch Stores Hotel was - submitted. There was a crowded attendance and spirited bidding was the order of the day, Messrs Manning and Co., Limited, eventually becoming the purchasers at what was considered the good price of £4700. The next lot was a nice house fronting the East Town Belt, and near Ferry road, which realised £520. A house in Madras street did not realise owner's valuation and was passed in, but afterwards placed privately, our Saturday's transactions amounting to nearly £6000 for property alone. We'have a good many inquiries from persons wishing to rent farms of from 100 to 300 acres, and from others wishing to purchase suburban blocks of from 5 to 20 acres.
