COAL IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
IMPORTANT DISCOVERY.
[PSR PKK33 ASSOCIATION.! Heoeived April 16th, LlO a.m.
Sydnbt, April 15. A seam of coal sis feet thick has been discovered at Liverpool, twentytwo miles south of Sydney. This seam is two thousand five hundred feet down, and the disrovery proves beyond doubt that the coal eeama are not thinning out towards Sydney to such an extent as was commonly believed; in fact it is a matter for consideration irhether'coal will not in future be worked under the city of Sydney at a not much greater depth than the lAverpool end. Mr T. W- 3E. i David, a geological surveyor and one of ■ the highest authorities oa coal measures I in this colony, has deteraained that thewestern and southern ooal eeaoas, hitherto thought to be distinct, are one and the game, and only interrupted by intrusive rock*. /
