UNITED METHODIST DISTRICT MEETING.
The free Methodist district meeting opened its sittings at Addington yesterday afternoon at 2 o clock. A goodly number of representatives from various parts of the colony were present. The first hour was spent in devotional exercises, after which the certificates of the representatives were examined and the meeting was duly constituted. The election of officers was then proceeded with, and resulted as follows:-Chairman, Rev. A. Peters; Secretary, Mr J. A. Flesher; sub-Secre-taries, the Revs. Penny and Saunders ; reporters to the Press, Rev. H. B. Redstone and MrT. Cutler. 'It was resolved —That the hours of sitting be from 11 to 1 and from 2to 5.30. It was agreed to receive a deputation from the Christchurch Ministers Association on Thursday afternoon at 4.30.
The meeting adjourned at 3.30, in order to afford its members an opportunity of paying their last tribute of respect and esteem to the memory of the late Rev. T. B. Fisher, who for many years was a member and office-bearer of the United Methodist Free Churches, and also rendered valuable services, both by his pulpit efforts and financially helping in the earlier years of the history of the Churches. On resuming business the minutes of the previous meeting were read. The Revs. E. O. Perry, H. B. Redstone, C. Penny, and Messrs C. R. Leadley, T. Cutler, G. Bowron and J. T. Brown were elected a Stationing and Finance Committee.
