Drunkenness. —A first offender, had been locked up since Saturday, was' cautioned and discharged.
Vagrancy.—Alex. Kelley, with several aliases, was charged with having no lawful visible means of support. Evidence was led to show that prisoner bad been living on a woman named Ada Gilbert. The two had taken possession of an unoccupied house near the Racecourse, and Kelly had done no work since he first came to Ashburton, six weeks ago. He was found guilty, and sentenced to three months' hard labor. Ada Gilbert was charged with drunkenness, and also with vagrancy. It was shown that the prisoner had been living a life of prostitution since she was fifteen years of age. The Bench sentenced her to twelve months' imprisonment. Frank O'Neil, who had been drunk and disorderly with the woman Gilbert, was severely reprimanded, and aent to gaol for one week.
