An Auckland telegram states that yesterday the mare Dudu was scratched for all engagements at Auckland Racing Club's summer meeting. - Our Dunedin correspondent telegraphs that Law Mercer, the late owner of Shifnal, is testing the right of the Christchurch TattersalTs. to interfere in cases of dieputed wagers between private individuals, his name haying been sent to the Dunedin Jockey Club by Tattersail's as a defaulter." He is bringing an action for libel against that body, claiming .£IOOO damages. The case will be heard at Dunedin. Sir Robert Stout and Mr Fraser are retained for the plaintiff. The Exhibition race meeting resulted in a credit balance to the Club of over, flve hundred pounds, which will go a long way towards paying for the improvements recently made. ! A Dunedin Press Association telegram sayß that consideration of the protest against Princess, the winner o? the trots, is postponed for a week. The principal winners, excluding trots, are:—Mr Stephenson, £2055 16s; Hon. G. McLean, £538 14s; Mr G. Ellis, J6538 15s; Mr G. G. Stead, £30S 15s; Mr Webb, £199 103; Mr Harris, j≤l9l 18s ;_ Messrs Gollan andßay, .£l9O each. ~ : ' Nominations for the Heathcote races, taking place December 26th and 27th, are due to-nieht at the Empire Hotel.
