New York, December 7.

Jeffereon. Davis, ex-President of the Confederate States, died of malaria induced by a chilL There is general mourning in the South. The Secessionist leader, on his death bed, expressed a hope that his body would be buried on the site of the White House, Richmond, the capital of the Confederacy.

Received December 9th. 12.30 p.m. New York, December 8. The body of Jefferson Davis is lying : n state at New Orleans. His family are destitute, and a fund is being raised for their support.
