LYTTELTON REGATTA
A meeting of the Regatta Committe. was held, in the Lyttelton Borough Council Chambers, on Friday night. Dr. W. Q. FitzHenry in the cbair. The collectors reported that subscriptions were coming to hand slowly, and cue amount promised was still behind that of last year. The tender of the Lytteltoa Brass Bond was accepted for New Year's Day. A Sub-Committee was appointed to deal with the booths end right of sports question. Be increasing the prize money in the open boat race, it was decided not to make any alteration in the sum allotted. Opinions were received from yacht owners at Wellington and Donedin on the practice of shifting ballast, and the Committee, after full consideration, decided to stand by the Sub-Com-mittee's recommendations on this point, that on no account would shifting ballast be allowed. A Sub-Committee was formed to report at next meeting on the conditions of the fishing boats' sailing race, to receive suggestions from owners of boats, and to consider the question of allowing all fishing boats to enter. The Committee appointed to report on the pyrotechnic display for New Year's night reported that they had secured a Rood variety of fireworks, and expected to make a good show. The meeting fehea adjourned.
