LYTTELTON REGATTA.
The was a fall meeting of the Regatta Committee on Friday night in the Borough Council Chamber; Dr. w. G. Fitzßenry (Commodore) in the chair. The reports from the collectors were as follows :— Xyttelton £72, with other £10 expected, and Christchurch £120, with £20 expected. <Mr W. G. Shepheard signified his Intention to assist the Christchurch collectors. A letter was read from the private secretary to his Excellency the Governor, stating that his Excellency had consented co become the patron of the Regatta. The Sab-committee, who revised the rales, re- . ported that they had decided that in yacht races there should be no allowance of the practice of shifting the ballast in the boats in the future, as there was a great danger attached to it. Prize money to the amount of £203 was allotted, and the programme is similar to that of last year's. A. Sab-committee was appointed to arrange for the additional amusing events to be added to t£e programme, such as the bowsprit, water polo, &c The meeting then adjourned.
