London, November 22.
The weekly returns of the Bank of England, published to-day, show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £12,034,000, being an increase of £64,000 as compared with the previous week. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 41 per oent.
Consols 97.
New Zealand four per cent, inscribed stock is weaker at 106.
Australian wheat, ex warehouse, 39s 6d, with the market depressed; New Zealand long-berried, ex store, 37s 6d.
Sugar, German beet, 11s 6d j Java, 14s 3d. *■
The iron market is firm at 63s 6d. Received November 25th, la.m. London, November 23. At the auctions to-day, 1100 bales of rabbit skins were sold. New Zealand consignments show an advance of Id per lb, while Australian have barely supported last rates.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy> Company, Limited, has received, the* following London cable message, dated 22nd November:— V
Tallow—There fa a fair demand. Quotations have advanced 3d per cwt since last report.
Hemp—Market firm and prices unchanged.
Frozen Meat—Mutton, the market is quiet. Canterbury and Wellington mutton is worth 4£d and 4§d per lb respectively. Beef, market inactive. Hind quarters are worth 3fd per lb.
Rabbit Skins—The demand is active. Best descriptions have Id and medium 2d per lb since last report.
