4 There are various ways of testing the germinating power of seeds. The surest method, perhaps, is to take a small flowerpot and pot in the bottom some broken crocks or tile for drainage; then fill ud the pot with light sandy soil, and then wesa the earth down as smoothly aa possible, which It conveniently done by the psressur of another pot. The next move is to count 100 seeds, and equally distribute them over the surface of the pressed soil. Cover aptbefceedto the depth of half an inch with more earth, which should also be pressed smoothly, Then carefully add/a little water, and place the pot in a hotbed, or, if this iy not convenient, in a warm corner of a room. Afe ft days will enable you to count the seeds that have germinated.
