RICCARTON TROTTING NOTES.
Tuesday. The morning was dull and foggy. Mr Wood commenced early as usual. Dudu and British Lion were associated in a good strong gallop, the last round of two being done at a merry pace. Cynisca and Satan strode along at ha'f pace for abouc three-quarters of a mile and improved the pace for another six furlongs. Fienole, VonTempsky, and Parse String went one mile strong. St. Malo ran three-quarters of a mile at three-quarter speed, Alsace did similar work. * Helmsman did useful work. Lorraine was restricted to long half pace exercise, and seemed very sore again. Hazel and Gatling sprinted together. Richlake sprinted alone. Son-of-a-Gun and Wakatipu ran once round at top in company, and the solidity of the pace found out the weak spot in the former, who hobbled away very dicky. Repose did a round strong alone. Monteagle was treated to a long steady pace exercise. Enchantress and Vanity put in a slow once round. Ivanhoe and Rosebud at half-pace accomplished two circuits. Alpine Rose and Leinster rattled over a mile and a half in company. Springston and Peerswick at threeI quarter pace got over two rounds, 1 Two rounds at a strong pace were left behind in a pleasing manner by Merrie England. A pair that moved well over six furlongs were Erin-go-Bragh and Alcinous. Catamount and Relief galloped three quarters of a mile in company. Ruby did long steady work. Count D'Orsay was sent twice round strong. Chain Shot and Alma were moved along briskly twice round. Three-quarter-pace work, over two laps, represented the task performed by Sankey. Tornado did a half-mile flutter. Squib went two miles at a slow pace. Pygmalion and Egalite, Reprisal and Town Moor, the Gertrude filly. Bay King and Crackshot sprinted. Sultan was out and cantered steadily round the plough.
