The monthly meeting of this Board wae held on Thursday, 3rd October. PresentMessrs R. Bristow, J. Cameron, H. Mahler and J. Vallance. Mr J. Cameron was voted to the chair. Accounts amounting to £71 13s 3d were passed for payment* The receipts amounted to £18 7s lid. Tenders were opened for forming Leithfield and Mount Grey road to full width; Mr W. H. Hale, 4s 9d per chain, accepted. Correspondence was read—From Mr 0. Johnstone, «"»>ring to b* allowed something extra on his contract—trimming and grubbing gorse. The Board did noli see Its way to comply with the request. From Mr J. M. Brodie, tendering his resignation as Chairman and member of the Board, Mr Brodie , * resignation was received with regret. From the Charitable Aid Board, requesting payment of contribution. The Cleric was instructed to write that the same will be forwarded as soon as the Board is in funds. It was decided to write to the Amberley Town Board, and ask If that body will contribute toward the cost of the poisoned grain that has been given out during the season. The following persons waited on the Board—Mr C. Boyce asked for timber to make a bridge over a drain on the Mount Grey road. The Clerk to inspect and report. Mr W. Duffell drew attention to cattle being herded on the Sefton road, opposite his place. Tae Clerk was instructed to drew che attention of the Banger to the matter. Messrs D. Dick, N. Boyce, and J. Boyce waited on the Board lelative to the diversion of a watercourse on Mr Peach's land, which is the means of their lands being flooded. It was decided that Messrs Cameron, Mahler, Vallance, and the Clerk meet the parties interested on the ground on Tuesday, 15th October, at 10 a-m., to see into the matter. Mr W. Bitchieaaked that some repairs be done to a piece of road leading to hie section 9510. To be attended to. A general rate of one halfpenny (id) in the £ was made and levied, and the rate book duly signed. The Clerk's report was read and considered. Bβ Boundary road, near Stony Creek. It was decided that the gorse be cleared. The Clerk was authorised to accept a tender. Bepiirs to the above road deferred until the gorse is cleared. Be bridge over the drain on Stanton's road broken down, the Clerk was instructed to see Mr Hadler if he will accept this bridge as one of the two granted by the Board; If so, the Board will supply the timber to replace it; Mr Hadler to cart the timber. Webb's roadTussocks to be cleared. Some small works were ordered, and the Board adjourned. Professor Todd, of Amherst, has discovered a spot on the sun 30,000 miles in diameter, if the theory of Herschell, that these spots are holes in the oncer disc ef the sun, be correct, this hole is big enough to let several planets the size of che earth drop into the interior of the eon without any crowding at the entrance. .<■
