The Sydney Art Sooiety is arranging to send a ooUeotion of pictures to the Dunedin Exhibition. THE ALTAR OF HEAVEN. The "Altar of Heaven" at Pekin, the principal temple in China, which was on fire when the last mail left, was burned to the ground. Two men have been arrested on the charge of inoendiarism. Received October 15th, L2O a.m. * LORD CARRINGTON. Stdnby, October 14. It is doubtful whether his Excellency the Governor, Lord Carrington, will be present at the opening of the New Zealand Exhibition, owing to the reassembling of Parliament in November. He will probably visit Dunedin later on.
