She was built in 1888 by ; felmer'e Shipbuilding and Iron Company. : limited. Newcastle-on-Tyne. Her enwhich are by the same firm, are on SM triple expanelon surface condensing Jffndple, and when loaded she can steam . Meten knots on an average consumption of twenty-seven tons of coal per diem. Her length is 325 ft, beam 40ft, and depth ;BkW She is built of steel and schooner rigged, and has an elliptical stern. ! Hir owners, Messrs A. Currle and Co. of HeXbourne, are also the owners of the Bnoephalos and Clltaa. The former vesseL haa been here and took a load of horses Mltoefor Calcutta some two years ago. The Argus is eepecially designed for carrytng horses, and the fittings for the stalls, ' &&, are built with the ship.
