Oats*— Short heavy feed oats, prime quality, sacks in, 2s 9d to 3s. Oats are dull. Maize—-Prime quality, sacks in, 3s 2d. Bran and pollard are dull, former 9d, latter 8-£ d. Potatoes are in, good demand. We quote New Zealand lots at up to £5 ss. . The following private cable message was received in . Christchurch yesterday from Melbourne :—" The duty will be raised on wheat on and after to-day to 2s lid per 1001b (equal to Is 9<l per ? bußhel). The market for oafcs and barley is very irregular, prospects are very doubtful. Think it possible the new duty will come into L operation about middle of next week."
