WILLIAMS' BUILDINGS, Don street, InvercargilL , THE COMPANY is formed to acquire that well-known and valuable Tin Property, section su, generally known as " TuckerV* containing 58 acres 3 roods 18 poles, held under a 21 years' lease at an annual rental of tSI 78 6d, situated about 2* miles from Port Pegasus, Stewart Island, Otago, K.Z.; also the several water rights held by the original owners. gAMPLES AND AgSA Yg # In the first instance a sample very roughly dressed was forwarded to the manager (Mr H. W. F. Kayser) of the Mount Biflchofr Tin Mine Company, Tasmania. Mr Kayser reported from 50 to 65 % Tin. Subsequently samples were forwarded to Mr S. 9. vale, mining in-, spector and consulting amelter, Sydney, also to Mr J. M. Putter, manager Brothers Home No. ITin Mining Company, Derby. Tasmaniajund 0 Mr W. Skey, Government Geologist, Welngton. with the following results :— As»say received from Mr S. S. Vale: " Aaaay Office, 42 Castlereagh street, Sydney. " Description—Stream Tin, 69 % Metallic Tin. (Signed) ' S. S. Valk, Asaayer." MrJ.M. Potter.writes:- ---" Brothers Home No. 1 Tin Mining Company. " Derby, Tasmania, 28th June, 1880. " G. A. Birch, Esq., InvercargilL " Dear Sir,—The samples of Tin Ore sent By you for assay from application 50, known as Tucker's Block, Port Pegasus, Stewart Island, came safely to hand. " Sample No. 1 assayed 685% Metallic Tin. ~ ~2 „ 70-5% " Average of samples, 69|% '• There was a percentage of magnetic iron in sample No. 1, and a nice spec of water-worn gold in No. 2. (Signed) "J. M. Pottkb, Mine Manager." In a letter accompanying the above assay Mr Potter writes:— •• I beg to acknowledge receipt of two samples of Tin Ore from Stewart Island. As requested 1 made a very careful aesay of the two samplee. I wired you the average was 69%. The result must be highly satisfactory to you, and the ground, judging from prospects obtained, should pay well with a good supply of water. " It atfords mc great pleasure to find that Mr Conliffe has gained the confidence and esteem of the leading citizens of Invercargill, as I have known him for some time, and have always found him straight and of unimpeachable integrity. (Signed) "J. M. PoTtaß." Mr W. Skey forwarded the following *" Nevv B Zealand Geological Survey Laboratory. " Result of analysis No. 5322. •• Locality—Port Pegasus, Stewart Island. "Received—July 1889.

" The perceatage of Cassiterite (oxide OS tin) •• W. Skey. Mines Department, 17th July, 1880." The following extract taken from a letter ■written by Mr J. M. Potter to the editorof toe •' Southland Daily News," under date Tasmania, 20th June, 188& and appearing in the issue of the "Southland Daily News *at Bth fair. 1889, will show the monetary value of toe above assays:— •' It may interest many of your readers to know that the value of Tin Ore is estimated at per ' unit,' by which is meant the percentage of metallic tin contained in such ore- For instance, if a person had one ion ol Stream Tin and it assayed 70 %, it would mean it. cantatas 70 units. The present unit price here is los 6d, and ore containing 70 unite is therefore worth £54 5e per ton, or about ojd per H>. Hence you ■will see that *~he value of lib of ore depends npon its assay per umt. The owners were fortunate in obtaining the ! services o£ Mr A. K. Conlifte, a gentleman who has had extensive experience on the Tasu'anian Tin Fields, and who was highly recommended to them. Mr Conliffe has been engaged with a staff of men for the last five months in i thoroughly prospecting and testing the Claim. Nine shafts, varyiujt in depth frpm Blt to 20ft, have been sunk, anu in every instance highly payable wash has been obtained, in come cases 18fc d«ep. A face H4ft in length has been opened out, from which, with a very primitive sluice and the small quantity of water immediately available, three men in a few hours obtained over 1001b wtight of Tin Ore assaying 69J%. This in itself thoroughly proves the value of the Claim. , - - _ Mr Coniiffe states that over 90 acres of the lower part of the Claim there is at least an average depth of Bft ofi Tinbearing Washdirt, showing a prospect of from loz to Ub weight of Tin Ore per dish. As the upper portion of the Claim is reached and the face washed away, from the results already obtained, there is every prospact of unearthing a rich vein of Tinbearing ti tone. TEßßiGHm ' The owners have the right to six heads of water; the Water Race has been surveyed in by Mr Coniiffe and certified to by Mr Dundas, C.E., and will not exceed three miles in length. The levels show that the race can be brought in and allow of about 200 ft fall for pressure at the mine—amply sufficient for hydraulic sluicing

oa an extensile. STO RAGB. A piece o< land 5 acres in extent has been applied for and obtained in themoatconve/lenc position to erect a dam, so as to ensure /. constant supply of water during the diy/Seaspn. Tne cost of erecsting the dam, constru/nng tne -water race, and putting the mine in thorough working order, is not expected to exceed £80001 RICPOBTS. Mr Conliffe reports as follows:—, " Section No. 60, known as * Tucker's. , "This ground, which is about 60 acres In extent, has been tested in a moat exhaustive manner, three faces having been opened and nine shafts eunk, exposing wash in some places 18ft deep, carrying tin ore in highly payable quantities. The right to an abundant euPEly <£ water has been secured, which water will be available for working the claim in the most extensive and remunerative manner on the hydraulic system of sluicing. ~ IWI . ,- " The situation of the ground is all that ooula be desired for this mode of working, as in addition to its excellent situation with regard to fall from head race, there is also a good fall available for tailings. "The ore when dressed has only to be conveyed some two and a-half miles to Port Pegasus, a harbor available in all weathers for ships of the largest tonnage. In addition to its great value as an alluvial claim, there is every india rich lode will be found on the ground, whioh Is certain to be exposed as the ordinary work* ing by sluicing is carried on. .(wened) "• A. Ebbkezer Conuffb. Mining Expert, Mr C. E. Rust, a Tasmanlan Tin .Miner,

••I have much pleasure as an expert in testifying to the good and payable character c* claim No. 50. the richness and depth of the wash, and the natural facilities for ground araicing on an extensive scale, being such that the Chairman, Tucker's Syndicate. " Dear Sir,—l beg to report that knowing well the position and formation of claim No. SO, I have no hesitation in saying that from the very favorable indications snown during prospect* mar, the greater part of which took place under my own observation, the mine, if worked with ordinary economy, will pay good dividends from the stream tin alone, the working pf which is almost sure to disclose the very rich lode that must exist in the vicinity; the presence of which is Tinmistakabty shown by the rich tin* impregnated stone found in the present workings amongst the alluvial tin. and wblcn bears traces of little or no travelling. (Signed) "John Dwyxb. GENKRAJL REMARKS. Mr Conliffe found a good specimen of tinbearing rock in the claim. From 7oz crushed, S*oz of tin ore was obtained. Tfaepresence of this and many other specimens without any indications ot having travelled far prove without a doubt the immediate vicinity of a valuable stratum of rich ore. _._i»_j *vTasmanian tin miners who have vMtea tne claim asserts that it resembles die eelebratea Mount Bischoff claim.
