SYDENHAM POULTRY SOCIETY.
The annual meeting of the above ires held , last night in toe Sydenham HoteL Mr C. Heath, Vice-Patron, occupied the chain- ■ ■- ■ ■ • ■■■ c, •.,:,•.-■* The annual report was read, ft stated that the debt owing on the pens, amounting to £1255 17s 6d,lad been paid they had been covered, by insurance to the extent of £75. The entries thist £ear amounted to 635, being an increase on Ja«t year's show of 182, and £55 on the first show held by the Society. Reference wae -made to the necessity for increased accommodation for the number of exhibits. The remainder of the report, dealt with, the various exhibits in the late show. The balance-sheet showed an income during the year of £262 4s 6d, and an expenditure of £238 8s 2d, showing a balance of £26 16e 4d. * The progress of the Society may be noted by the fact that five years ago they were in debt to some extent, and that now this amount has been liquidated, together with the amount for pens already spoken of paid off, and r that now the Society has a balance to credit. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and great credit was given to the zeal and energy of Mr A. Johnstons, Treasurer, in the interests of the Society, and an honorarium of £5 5s was voted to him. An honorarium of £8 8s was voted to the Secretary, Mr O. Jbhnstone.
