LODGE MEETINGS.

The monthly meeting of Walker's Purple Heroes, No. 24, L.0.L., was held on Thursday evening in the Orange Hall. There was a large attendance of members and visitors, including the District Officers and Bro. J. Boyes, W.M., presided. One brother was admitted as a re-joining member, and two new candidates were proposed; The 12th of July Celebration Committee brought up their final report and balance-sheet, which was adopted. The* W.M., on behalf of the Committee, presented prizes to Mrs Sloan and Bro. J. King for selling the largest number of tickets for the tea, and to Master F. Hoole. It was unanimously resolved to invite the No Surrender No. 1 Ladies' Lodge to visit No. 24 at the next meeting, and also to invite the Rev. J. G. W. Ellis, R. W.D.G.M., to preside on the occasion. Bro. Douglas, D.M., then took the chair, when the election of officers was proceeded with, and resulted as follows :—W.M., Bro. J. T. Smith; D.M., Bro. W. J. Alexander; Secretary, Bro. F. Coles (re-elected) ; Treasurer, Bro. W. J. Sloan (re-elected); Chaplain and Librarian, Bro. Bleach; Committee, Bros. J. Boyes, R. McAueland, R. Brown, H. Scrimshaw, and J. Walker; Auditors, Bros. T. E. Toneycliffe and J. Hoole; Tyler, Bro. Cox. The Arch Purple degree was conferred upon a brother, after which the Lodge closed in due form. The fortnightly meeting of the Lyttelton Hearts of Oak Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held on Thursday evening. The half-yearly balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £490 11s, was read and adopted. The action of the delegates to the Druids' Annual Gala, 1889, on the basis of representation, was fully endorsed by the Lodge, and Bros. Barnes, Brown, Briggs, Harrington, Seymour, Serra, Dass and Madden were appointed delegates for the next annual gala. P.D.P. Bro. Petrie was elected Grand Lodge representative at the next Grand Lodge meeting, and the Lodge was closed in due form by the A.D. Bro. Parlatt.

A meeting of the members of the Victoria Lodge, No. 19, 1.0.0. F., Geraldine, was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Geraldine, on Wednesday evening. There was a good attendance of members, Bro. J. W. Pye, N.G., presiding. Two candidates were initiated. A considerable amount of routine business was transacted, in the course of which the Secretary stated that the gross receipts from the recent gift auction amounted to £31 15s 7d. The meeting being a summoned one for the purpose of considering the desirability of forming a degree Lodge as per notice of motion tabled by Bro. R. Hammond, P.G., a discussion took place, which terminated in a vote in favor of the formation of such a Lodge. The N.G. having closed th« Lodge, invited the members to partake of a coffee supper, when a very pleasant hour was spent. At a meeting of the Sea Shell Lodge, 105, 1.0. G.T., on Wednesday evening the following officers were installed by the Lodge Deputy, Bro. Edwin Bladder, assisted by the Installing Marshal, Bro. G. Loader:—C.T., Bro. G. E. Collins; P.C.T., Bro. H. Gibbons; V.T., Bro. H. J. Hewatone ; C, Bro. P. Semmens; F.S., Bro, J. Ralph; S., Bro. W. Gilmore; A.S.Y Bro. Watson j M., Bio. Ftralkner; 1., Sister Gibbons; D.M., Sister Budd; T.G., Bro. W. Dere; 0.G., Bro. R. Dere. After the installation the Lodge went into harmony, which was kept up with great spirit until time of closing. The Lodge was closed in due form by the C.T., Bro. G. E. Collins.
