THE HEATING APPARATUS, CHRISTCHURCH HOSPITAL.
TO THB EDITOR 0-" THB PRESS. Sir.-—Referring to your report of tht discussion on this matter, kindly allow mc to state I was architect only for the hot water system of heating the wards Nos. 4, 5 and 6, and for the renovations carried out in 1887. Of these Dr. McGregor, Inspector-General, in his annual report, said " No. 6 ward has just been transformed into what is for the present! the model ward of the colony; tne two others are to be subjected to the same operation. . . . The ward itself, ai regards size, lighting, heating and ventilation, is admirable. It was in defence of the system of heat* ing, thus warmly approved, that I wrote the letter read by Mr Westenra at the meeting of the Board. I am not in any* way responsible for the alterations since made to wards Nos. 4 and 5 and proposed to be made to ward No. 6, by which stean* is substituted for hot water.—l am, &c., S. Hurst Ssaoer
