AN EVICTION IN HAWKE'S BAY.

[PRS3S ASSOCIATION TKLKORAM.] WAIPAWA, August 8. A real Irish eviction is taking place here. A tenant of a man named Samuel Hawley was ordered to quit a small tenement and refused. The landlord proceeded yesterday to take out the windows. Bags were nailed up by the tenant, whose name is Masters. A chimney sweep made a hostile demonstration, and a duel seemed imminent with an axe and spade. After much threatening hostilities ceased till morning, when the shingles were removed and the chimney taken down. The house is quite dismantled, and the aid of the police were invoked on both sides. No bones were broken.
