SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

YALDHUBST. A meeting of this Committee was held on Friday evening- Present—Messrs W. Johnston (Chairman), W. .T. Guy, W. H. Taylor, A. Chisnall, C. James, and J. Leatham. The Master's report showed a slight improvement on the last month's attendance. Average for month—Boys 35.(3. girls 22.6; total 5«>.2. The roll number was now 75, or 17 less than at the commencement of the year. The Visiting Committee reported on various works that had been carried out. After passing accounts the meeting terminated. STOKE. The ordinary monthly meetinc of the School Committee was held on Monday evening last. Present—Messrs Meredith (Chairman), Auderson, Cathsrwood, Mitchell, and E. Pawsey. The tender of Mr Mitchell for worli at the school was accepted. The Mistress reported 28 pupils on the roll —21 girls aud 7 boys. The average for last month was 23.1, aud for last week 24. Another school entertainment will be held on Monday next. LINCOLN. The monthly meeting of this Committee was held on Monday evening. PresentMessrs J. Doherty (Chairman), W. Bartiani, C. McPheraou and A. MoNae. The use of school for a concert was granted. The Master's report showed highest average' attendance 134 - 4 also a list of defaulters. The Committee are applying to the Board of Education -with a view of receiving the assistance of the Police in enforcing compulsory clause of the Education Act. Accounts amounting to £3 7s 6d were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned. SOUTHBRIDGE. The ordinary monthly meeting of this Committee was held on Monday evening, in the school-room. Present—Messrs K. Webster (Chairman), H. M. Lee, R. C. Burns, J. Campbell, S. Moore, J. Bray, and S. Haujjhey (Secretary). The Chairman reported that the present caretaker would carry out the duties for the ensuing twelve months. The Chairman apologised for the absence of Rev. C. Whitehouse. The master's report was read, which showed the number on the roll for the month ending 31st July was 297, average attendance 227, highest attendance 258. Accounts amounting to £5 4s 8d were passed for payment. The meeting then adjourned. . RAKAIA. The monthly meeting was held on Monday evening. Present —Messrs Hardy (Chairman), Oxley, Harvey. Shannon, Dowliug, and Dixon. The Chairman said that with reference to the appointment of Miss Bilton as infant mistress the Board of Education wrote that it was not their practice to make appointments unless the Committee made choice of one name sent them by the Board, and explaining their method. It was resolved—That the Committee are still of opinion that Miss Bilton is the best selection tuny can make, and respectfully beg the Board to make the appointment. A sum of £11 10s was passed for payment, and the Committee adjourned.
