[FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, July 16.

The following important notice of motion was given by the Premier :—" That Standing Order No. 178 be suspended, in order that a Select Committee be appointed to inquire and report as to what form of local government is best adapted to the require, ments of New Zealand; five to form a quorum. The Committee to consist of the following:—Dr. Hodgkinson, Messrs Moss. Hon. G. F. Richardson, Seddon, Jones> Whyte, Pyke, Samuel, J. Mackenzie, Macarthur, and Tanner; to report in three weeks."
