PRIVATE SCHOOLS BILL.
TO THK KDITOB OF THB PBBBS. Sm,—From a report of his speech In the Press lately, I learn that Archbishop Redwood has been telling the Pope how unjustly his people are treated here, in reference to the education of their children, and how much the Pcpe sympathised with his oppressed people. But notwithstanding their unjust treatment the Bishop is confident that they will not only survive, bat be triumphant all along the line. "Sow, when we consider that the injustice complained of consists of having their children educated at the public expense and carried free on the railways to their schools, while Protestant children by the same trains have to pay their fare, it will be apparent that the Bishop bad very Rood reason for the assertion that they were triumphing all along the line. But would it not have been more reasonable if the Bishop, before making larger claims on the public funds, would show how liberally the Roman Catholic countries he has lately visited provide for the education of Protestant children, and in this manner have provoked to emulation our narrow-minded Protestant Government. But when twenty-five of our legislators can be found voting for an exclusive grant of public money to the Romish Church, the ultimate triumph of which the Bishop boasted is within measurable distance, unless the Protestant community awake and realize the gravity of the situation. —Yours, &c, On-lookkb. i
