A man named Hunter, living in the Glebe quarter of the city, during a drunken frenzy, attacked his family with a knife. He stabbed a four-year-old child to death, and wounded another. His wife escaped. Hunter attempted to commit suicide, but only wounded himself. A PILOT SUSPENDED. Melbourne, June 11. The result of the inquiry into the collision between the Iclanthe and the Cape Verde, is that Pilot Gifford, who waa in charge of the former at the time, has been found guilty of an error of judgment, and suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay the costs. ' THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN MINISTRY. Adelaide, July 11. Owing to the opposition to the appointment of a seventh Minister, Dr. Campbell, who was taken into the Cabinet without portfolio, has resigned. The Governor accepted the resignation but tbe Government refused to give way. THE S.S. PORT VICTOR. Brisbane, July 11. The steamer Port Victor, which ran ashore at Restoration Island, has been floated off uninjured. She had to jettison 260 tons coal.
