Tuesday. For some weeks there has been more activity in the markets than there was to-day, and business was rather languid. Mr Buse reports sales of 3000 sheep, with a good entry of cattle and pigs. The prices were—Fat crossbred wethers, 14s to 15s 6d; do ewes, 11s to 12s; lambs, 8s to 10s; turnip crossbred sheep (mixed), 9s to 10s; fat steers, £5 to £6 10s; do heifers, £4 to £5 10s; springers, £4 to £6 10s; yearlings, £1 to £1 ss; calves, 14s to 18s; pigs, for bacon, £1 15s to £2; porkers, 15s to 255; good young stores, 15s to 18s; small pigs, 5s to Bs. In the produce yards crossbred sheepskins, Is 9d to 5s 2d; merino do, 2s 4d to 3s 8d; hides, 3M to lfd; rough fat Igd, rendered do, 2d; fowls, Is 3d to 2s 9d pair; ducks, 2s 9d; chickwheat, 2s 6d to 3s bushel; oats, 2s 6d to 2s 8d; barley, 3s; beans, 2s 3a; peas, 3s 3d to 3s 6d; ryegrass seed, 2s 9d to 3s; cocksfoot, 2d to 3d per lb; colonial clover seed, 8d per lb; potatoes, 5s 6d to 6s; carrots, 2s to 2s 6d; onions, 2sd per lb; meal, 6s 6d; sharps, 8a 3d to 8s 6d; flour, 18s to £1 per sack; timber, 6e to 6s 9d per 100 ft.
Mr J. Dobson reports of his yards— Crossbred ewes, 10s to 10s 4d; do in lamb, 9s ; sucking pigs, 9s to 10s Cd; sheepskins, merino. Is 3d to 2s lid; butchers crossbred, 4s lid; hides, 2d to 2gd; flour. 18s bag; meal, 7s; wheat, 3s 6d bushel; potatoes, 5s 6d to 5s 9d sack; parsnips, 4s; onions, Is Id per string ; rough fat, l^d; calf skins, Is 6d to Is 8d; carrots, 2s 61 bag; chaff. Is 3d bag; good feed oats, 2s Ud bushel; barley, 3s. There was a limited transaction in grain at—Wheat, Hunter's, 2e 10d to 3s Id bushel; Tuscan, 3s 3d; oats, 23 4£d to 2a 7d; potatoes, 55s ton for immediate delivery, and 60s for delivery in August.
