IMPORTANT BANKING CASE.
[nna awociatiok raxaesAk.] DUNEDEN, June 20. The cases of Bank of New Zealand ▼ Wilson, Tame and Co., and the crossaction was concluded to-day. The Bank claimed .£2507 los lid, due on an overdraft and on bills. In the cross-action Wilson, Tame and Co. claimed £10,000 damages for injury to their credit through the Banks having dishonored their cheques for wool bought while their wool account was in funds. The two actions were, for the sake of convenience, heard as one Mr Haggitt, with Mr F. E. Chapman, appeared for the Bank; Sir B. Stout, with Mr J. Macgregor, for Wilson, Tame and Co. Counsel addressed the jury, and Mr Justice WiUiama summed up. Tie jury, after an absence of three hours, returned a verdict giving Wilson, Tame and Co. j damages for £5000, the Bank getting a verdict in the other case. The Bank will get altogether for overdraft, overdue bills, &c, roughly about £3600, and Wilson, Tame and Co., therefore, receive £1500.
