CHRISTCHURCH.
Tuesday, June 18. (Before R. Westenra, Esq., J.P.) Maintenance. — Charles Bisman was charged with failing to provide for his wife, Christina, and two children. Mr Leatham appeared for the defendant, who was remanded till Thursday. Wednesday, June 19. [Before G. Roberts and J. C. Wilson. Esqs.] Breaches op By-laws.—T. N. Horsey and EL M. Goodger were fined each as foi allowing horses to wander. William Hurcomb and Nicholas Columbus, for standing with their fish carts at the kerb in CoJojabo street so as to obstruct the traffic on the footway on Saturday night, were each fined 10s. For keeping unregistered dogs the following persons were fined:— W. Tilley 10s, Jas. Hogg 10s, C. J. Oakes (two) £1, E. Sullivan 10s, Jas. Hind 10a, W. Morgan (two) £1, J. Harrap 10s and W. J. White 10s. Adam Beck and J. Weatherali were charged with acting as hawkers without license. The Inspector stated that since the information had been laid the defendants had taken out licenses, and the City Council did not wish to press for a fine. They were ordered each to pay 7s costs, with 4s for expenses of one witness.
