SALE OF CANTERBURY RUNS.

[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] WELLINGTON, March 25. The sale of Canterbury runs has been definitely fixed for lands south of the Rangitata River at Timaru on May 30th, and for lands north of the Rangitata, including pastoral lands in the Midland area, at Christchurch on the following Tuesday. As no legal reasons exist for dealing with these lands twelve months before the expiry of existing leases, it has been considered advisable to hold the sales on the dates named, so as to give ample time for distribution of plans and inspection by intending buyers. About 210,000 acres will not be re-leased, being reserved for the purposes of settlement; and nearly 40,000 acres additional will be leased sub ject to resumption when required for settlement.
