THE CANTERBURY RUNS.

[from our correspondent.] WEi.LIN *TON, March 14. The Minister of Lands has been actively engaged for some time past in preparing for the approaching sale of the Canterbury runs. The classification plans were completed to-day, and will be sent South for circulation to-morrow. Very full and complete reports have been obtained as to the respective qualities and values of the lands, and the operations now under consideration will be by far the largest measure in the direction of settlement that has been applied to Canterbury for many years. All that is feasible will be done to enable full advantage to be taken of this opportunity for promoting substantial settlement, while at the same time avoiding as much as possible any hardship to the present tenants. Tlie details, however, have not yet been finally settled in Cabinet.
