THE CROPS.
Harvesting operations in the Geraldin* district are now getting pretty well completed, and a short time should see every sheaf in stack.. Seme of the farmers, with a view to obtaining for their produce the excellent price now ruling, are already busy threshing." The grain.is turning out to be particularly bright and hard, though not quite so plump as would doubtless have been the case had we had a little more moisture* during December and January. The yield - is, upon the whole, a very fair one, and this ■ year's harvest shauld go a great way to setting some of the farmers on their feet again. - In spite of the scorching weather prevailing for a long time past turnips are looking fairly well. This may perhaps be accounted for by the heavy dews which have fallen at night. The grass land presents a very scorched appearance, and feed is getting very scarce indeed. .Potatoes have held their own in a surprising manner, and the yieid from this crop ought to average very well. Many of -the farmers are taking advantage of the fine weather to get some Of the stubble land ploughed, and in some cases harvesting and ploughing are going on simultaneously in the same paddock. Water is getting very scarce all over the district, and the ' sooner the harvest is over and a good downpour takes place, the better.
