The annual session of the New Zealand University Senate opened to day at the Citj Council Chambers, the Chancellor, Sir James Heetor,,presiding.... In his opening address, the Chancellor detailed the proceedings of the University for: the past twelve months, and gave an abstract of the income and expenditure, showing a credit balance of JBIIOS 4a 3d.
It would be encouraging, if somewhat sad, to discover how many children whose parents are comparatively rich are starved to death, not from underfeeding, bat from unsuitable food. In some cases it in all meat and no milk, in others all milk and no meat; and in either case the child lacks some of the constituents of flesh, blood, and bone. Many parents seem to think that, sameness in food is identical with simplicity, and pride themselves on the virtue of a coarse of action which is nothing less than murderous.— Tht Mos~ pitaL
