WELLINGTON, February 28. An important judgment was given by the Resident .Magistrate this morning. Andrew Hamilton, a brewer, was. convicted on five charges of neglecting to make proper entries of the beer removed from the brewery for consumption, and was fined £50 on each charge and costs. The stock of implements and beer at the date of each information to be confiscated. In default the sentence to be three months.

Two charges against John Edmunds for neglecting to cancel the stamp on a beet cask, and to make an entry on a bale of hops, were dismissed, but costs were refused on account oi the defendant's own negligence bringing the prosecution on him. The Magistrate suggested that better provision should be mads in the Act for tiie complete obliteration of beer stamps.
